Portable Wastewater Filter with Backwashing Mechanism by Engr. Arnaldo C. Reyes

ABSTRACT:
The disposal of household wastewater directly to the drainage system adds up to the growing problem on wastewater disposal system maintenance. The accumulated suspended solids surely add up to the volume of waste materials that goes thru with the wastewater. In the process of wastewater disposal a primary treatment process can be adopted in the individual house holds in order to lessen the suspended solids by means of filtration. It is the intention of this research to be able to design and adopt a portable household wastewater filtering device to conduct the primary screening and filtering of household wastewater. The portable wastewater filter will use ordinary sand and gravel as the filtering medium and will have back a washing mechanism for easier maintenance. The developed prototype wastewater filter will be adopted in ordinary house hold waste water disposal system to lessen the suspended solids and help lessen the possibility of clogging within the system.
